Poquoson Recycling Center
In 1990 the Kiwanis club was one of four civic groups to organize and construct, and operate the Poquoson Recycling Center, one of the most successful in the State. A regional authority has since replaced the voluntary drop-off station. In 1993 the club assumed responsibility for collecting litter along a major section of Wythe Creek Road as a part of the city’s Adopt-A-Spot program.
CHKD Emergency Center
In 1992 the club accepted it’s largest challenge ever. Along with 39 other clubs in the three Kiwanis divisions in Hampton Roads, we agreed to do our part in raising $1 million dollars in five years for the Children’s Kiwanis Emergency Center at the Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters in Norfolk, Virginia.
