The Annual Kiwanis Pig Roast is going to be May 2nd at the old Wells Fargo bank building
Kiwanis Club of Poquoson fundraising is accomplished in many ways. Our oldest and most popular is our very famous annual Pig Roast. It has been held every May since it was started by Fletcher Gray in 1976. Fletcher Gray, a past president, and beloved member, is now deceased; however, his “secret recipe” for the barbecue sauce lives on through the generosity of his wife, Delores.
It's a whole production! Overnight shifts (yes, we cook straight through the night!) and extensive logistical coordination support your local love of the well know "Kiwanis BBQ." Each container is about one pound and can be saved in the freezer for long-term enjoyment - if you have the self control to save it!
In the Spring, (this year at the old Wells Fargo building) we offer a full meal with homemade hushpuppies, baked beans, cole slaw and a 1/3lb. BBQ sandwich with a drink.
Pay and pickup is usually in person at the Poquoson Parks and Recreation Building, 830 Poquoson Avenue. Stay tuned for our next bulk sale.
All proceeds benefit youth programs in Poquoson.
